Associates National Committee (ANC-USA) has a new member - June 2009

The Associates National Committee is pleased to announce the selection of Sharon Karam RSCJ as the newest member of the Associates National Committee (ANC-USA), replacing Sheila Hammond RSCJ. Sharon brings a great love of Society history and a particular joy from working with Associates for many years in Houston and at the national meetings. You can download an article for the RSCJ Update with more details about Sharon's selection here.

Initial Orientation Project

Marianne Basila and Sharon Karam RSCJ will outline a process to help women and men begin their journey to become Associates of the Sacred heart. In the fall of 2009, they will ask the Associate Coordinators for recommendations or additions to the project. A copy of the Resources Booklet published in March 2008 can be downloaded here.

Finances - 2009 Annual Appeal

Shirley Miller RSCJ, Director of Mission Advancement, has included the Associates in the 2009 Annual Appeal. While the U.S. Provincial Team plans to fund the Associates until 2012, the goal is to support the national Associates movement by donations to the 2009 appeal. Since the inception of the ANC in January 2007, the budget has ranged from $8,000-12,000 which covered communications, travel and meetings, the website and webmaster. The ANC plans to work with local groups to develop ideas for the Associates to be self-sustaining both locally and nationally, while understanding the complexities of the current financial situation. Options being considered include establishing the Associates as a separate 501(c)3 organization. You can find more information here.

2009 RSCJ Assembly (July 2009)

The RSCJ in the U.S. will convene at the 2009 Assembly to look at ways to implement the priorities of the 2008 General Chapter. A copy of the General Chapter 2008 Document can be downloaded here. The Assembly Committee has asked the ANC for a one page article on the Associates to include the highlights of our year (retreats, sharing the Chapter Documents, AASH panel, regional news, etc.).
