Kay Lucas - An Associate On a Mission - October 2007
Kay, a nurse practitioner, has been an associate for many years in the San Francisco (SF) area. When she moved to Minneapolis she continued to connect with the SF group via conference call for at least the past 4-5 years. NOW her next step has been to sell her house, pack up all her belongings, and move to Ethiopia, where she will be the clinical director in a small rural hospital for at least a year. The following is a short email from her:
"I arrived fine into ethiopia and have made it to
Chiri - 12 hours from the capitol. It is a lush, mountainous,
rainforest town here. easy to grow things here - moderate temps and lots of
rain.
Monkeys keep taking our fruits and vegetables. But the herbs and flowers are doing great.
I start work on Monday - but I have already gotten the tour of the hospital and grounds and have met the 14 children from the orphanage. They had colored pictures and posted them in my bedroom to welcome me - how really sweet....

Associates National Committee - USA in the News

Associates National Committee - USA News - August 2007
The Identity Subcommittee of the Associate National Committee (ANC-USA) is collecting inputs to a national identity statement. Responses, due to Jane Steinfels by September 30, 2007, will be collated, redrafted and sent out one more time for input. The final proposal of a national identity statement will be presented at the National Associates/ Associates Coordinators Meeting in Feb. 2008.
Resources for three basic types of information are being collected: formation, prayer, ongoing formation, with an emphasis on what materials are appropriate for Associates. Marianne Basila will send the list of resources to Kathy Waller and Fran Gimber, RSCJ, to review and prioritize. The subcommittee will report at the Feb. meeting in Houston.
